Dr. Eric Schneider, PT, MPT, DHSc, OCS, CMTPT

Eric earned his Master’s degree in Physical Therapy from Mount St Joseph University in 2006 and received his Doctor of Health Science degree from the University of Indianapolis in 2019. He has over 15 years of experience in outpatient physical therapy working with individuals with various orthopedic and neurological conditions. Eric is also a full time Assistant Professor within the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program at Mount St. Joseph University and serves as the Co-Academic Director for the Orthopedic Physical Therapy Residency Program at the Cincinnati VA Medical Center. In 2012, Eric was recognized as a Board-Certified Specialist in Orthopaedic Physical therapy by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties.
Eric’s clinical areas of expertise include the evaluation and treatment of musculoskeletal conditions with emphasis on spine rehab, orthopaedic manual physical therapy, spinal manipulation, dry needling, and the biomechanical analysis of run form and functional movement patterns. Eric has worked closely with the endurance athlete population through his work with Beyond Exercise as well as consultative roles with local run groups. He has also worked with several Crossfit athletes and power lifters on their movement efficiency in order to improve performance and reduce their risk for injury.
Eric’s primary teaching responsibilities at Mount St Joseph University include Biomechanics and Kinesiology, Therapeutic Exercises, and Applied Orthopedics I & II focusing on the evaluation and treatment of conditions of the spine as well as the sacroiliac joint. Eric is passionate about orthopaedic manual physical therapy and believes in a multi-disciplinary approach as compared focusing on one specific bias of manual therapy. For the past ten years, he has taught an elective course entitled, Advanced Topics in Manual Therapy covering higher-level orthopedic manual therapy techniques for the spine.
Eric has also taught several continuing education courses for licensed physical therapists that focus on the evaluation and hands on treatment of the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine, as well as the sacroiliac joint. He has been invited to speak at several conferences and symposiums regarding the use of orthopaedic manual therapy for various patient populations.
Eric’s current research agenda focuses on the effects that dry needling can have on lower extremity muscle function as well as the brain’s interpretation of pain signaling.
